Information Centre

Information Centre

The Information Centre was built in 2002 with money received from the Heritage Lottery Fund. It is open to the public seven days a week between 9am and 5pm and is situated next to the Ranger's Office.

There are many items of interest on display in the Centre, with lots of information on the flora and fauna of the Commons, as well as the history of the Commons.

We are also very privileged to have a video macroscope, which is a microscope showing things in very close-up, minute detail, which are then displayed on a screen. The specimens are changed regularly and there is a section for you to place your own specimens.

The macroscope was very kindly donated by the family and colleagues of Mr William Mosely who sadly passed away in 2003. A local resident, Mr Mosely loved the Commons and Mrs Mosely and the Ashmore Group wished to donate something special to remember him by.

Please be aware when visiting the Information Centre that it is in a working area with vehicles and horses around. Children should be accompanied by an adult.
