Winter is generally a quiet time for visitors on the Commons but the second national lockdown has once again shown the importance of open spaces to enable everyone to get out for some exercise and fresh air, and to let off a bit of steam.
Add a little snow into the mix and it's not surprising that visitor numbers have remained consistently high, particularly at the weekends. With travel so restricted, people are staying local and any open space in London, given their urban surroundings, will have a much larger "local" population than perhaps somewhere more rural, such as one of the national parks or a park/common in the countryside.
