Fundraising Appeals

Wimbledon and Putney Commons are 1140 acres of natural open space set amidst the urban surroundings of Wimbledon, Putney and Kingston Vale.

The Commons are funded by means of a Levy paid by all the households within 3/4s of a mile of the boundary of the Common, and the old Parish of Putney.  Additional income is raised through appropriate commercial activities, such as the use of the Richardson Evans Memorial Playing Fields for sports, the use of the Commons for events and as a filming location, and also through sale of logs.   The Commons total income for 2016/17 amounted to some £1.5 million.

Our small team of 22 staff do an amazing job in keeping the Commons maintained, safe and clean on a tight budget. However, there is little funding left for major infrastructure projects that require a big outlay of expenditure.  An example of this is the restoration of our major footpath, the Inner Windmill Road, that is the main artery through the Commons and which is in desperate need of repair.

On this page, we will detail the projects that we are raising funds for.  If you can help in any way, your donation will be very gratefully received, and will only be used for the purpose for which it is donated.
