The 2017 Bird List now available

The 2017 Bird List is hot off the press and now available at the Ranger's Office.

For nearly 35 years, Dave Wills was instrumental in producing the annual Birds of Wimbledon Common and Putney Heath, a result of putting in over 500 hours on the Commons watching our bird life.   He also participated in the Wildlife and Conservation Forum, sharing his insightful long-term knowledge of the Commons.

Following the sad loss of Dave last year, it is fitting that one of his "dependable team of contributors" has stepped in to ensure that this important work continues.

We are incredibly grateful to Adrian Podmore, a long-time friend of Dave's, for continuing the monitoring work that Dave and his predecessors started some 42 years ago.

This is such an important piece of work and Adrian, like Dave before him, really appreciates the support and help of everyone who is able to provide him with reports of sightings - if you are interested in helping Adrian with information, do please contact him at adrian.podmore4@gmail.com

Butterflies and Dragonflies

This year we have incorporated data on sightings of butterflies, dragonflies and damselflies on the Commons and our thanks go to volunteers Bill Budd and Simon Riley for their help.

The Report is available at the Ranger's Office at a cost of £4.50.
