Writ of Possession Notices around the Commons

Several people have contacted us with regard to the signs that were put up around the boundary of Wimbledon Common and Putney Heath on Thursday.

Following the illegal incursion of caravans and associated vehicles into the Richardson Evans Memorial Playing Fields at 10pm on Monday 10th September, action was taken in the High Court to obtain a Writ of Possession to enable us to remove them immediately.  The vehicles were moved off site by 6pm on Wednesday 12th September.

The Conservators are extremely grateful to the Burlington Group for their swift and professional resolution to this illegal incursion.

Further to this action, we were advised to post copies of the Writ of Possession around the area it covers - Wimbledon Common and Putney Heath - in order to publicise that it is in place.

These signs are therefore authorised by the Wimbledon and Putney Commons Conservators and will enable WPCC to take immediate action in the event that there is a further unauthorised incursion on the Common.

This in no way prevents the regular use of the Commons by visitors.
