Hedgehog Survey

Hedgehog Survey

Back in December 2018 we reported that the Zoological Society London (ZSL) were carrying out a hedgehog study on Putney Lower Common and Barnes Common.  Some 30 camera traps had been set up across Putney Lower Common and Barnes Common and these would be in place from 1st October for a month.

With the assistance of volunteers from Barnes Commons, our Head Ranger, Bill Rowland and three volunteers, the 30 camera traps were positioned around the two Commons and subsequently collected by ZSL staff at the very end of October.

We were given a sneak preview of one or two photographs from the camera traps and although it's a grainy infra-red image, you can just make out the hedgehog at the bottom of the photograph.

We promised we would make the final report available and here it is.  A fascinating insight into some of the nightlife on Putney Lower Common. Click on the image below to open the report.
