Wombles Walk Cleans Up The Commons!

Beloved Womble Madame Cholet helped WPCC host the inaugural Wombles Walk across the Commons on Sunday 22nd March.

Five hundred children and adults, including Wimbledon MP Paul Kohler and family, followed the trail – which took in the Wildlife Garden, Hookhamslade Pond, The Plain and the Windmill – to find six hidden Wombles.

With the Womble Walk coinciding with the Great British Spring Clean 2026, participants were encouraged to take litter pickers on their walk – in the spirit of the furry family - collecting many bags of rubbish.

The event also launched the official Wombles of Wimbledon and Putney Commons group, part of the Wimbledon Community Charity.

Come and be a Womble for the day, while litter picking with your friends and family. Litter picks, bags and bibs provided at the Ranger’s Office (AKA the Home Burrow!).

We'll also be hosting dedicated litter picking days. Join our mailing list to be kept up to date: https://www.wpcc.org.uk/main/subscribe
