Big Give Is Live: Double your Donation to New Wildlife Fund Now

This year’s Big Give Earth Raise Appeal is NOW LIVE!
For ONE WEEK ONLY, from today to next Wednesday, 29th April, all donations to the WPCC Big Give campaign WILL BE DOUBLED!
Please help us to raise our target of £20,000 for our new Wildlife Fund.
We’re fundraising to deliver nature-based solutions and conservation work to future-proof the Commons in the face of hotter summers and wetter winters. Your support can help protect and restore the Commons’ habitats including rare heathland and some of London’s last remaining peat bogs.
It is these habitats — and the rare sense of wilderness they create — that make the Commons so special, supporting a rich variety of insects, birds and amphibians.
However, our habitats face growing pressures from climate change, invasive species and the impacts of being surrounded by an urban environment and growing population. Without regular, skilled management, many of the Commons’ most important features would gradually decline.
WPCC has developed a 10‑year Land Management Plan, which sets out the actions needed to restore habitats, improve climate resilience and keep the Commons special for both wildlife and people.
Delivering it requires specialist skills, equipment and resources beyond our day‑to‑day maintenance budget — which is why, as the charity that cares for the Commons, we are creating a dedicated Wildlife Fund, which aims to:
- Implement nature-based solutions to strengthen climate resilience, including hydrology improvements
- Improve the ecological condition of the rare peatland habitats
- Restore heathland and acid grassland supporting rare species
- Enhance the woodlands and ponds to increase diversity
- Conserve smaller but critical habitats (hedgerows, glades, road side verges)
Together, these actions will strengthen the Commons’ resilience to hotter summers and wetter winters. The more we raise, the more of this work we can deliver sooner!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT OF OUR BELOVED COMMONS.
