Can you help the Wimbledon Common Nature Club?

Nature Club Needs Volunteers!

The Wimbledon Common Nature Club, originally set up under the auspices of the Wildlife Trusts, has been running here on the Commons for over 11 years.  Aimed at children between 6 and 14 years of age, the Club helps children discover nature and teaches them the value of the great outdoors.  Meeting at the Information Centre on Wimbledon Common, the Club has the whole of the Commons as its playground!

The Club was set up by local resident Auriel Glanville and she runs it along with fellow volunteers, meeting at the Information Centre opposite the Ranger's Office on the first Sunday of every month.

Can you help?

The Club is currently looking for at least two additional volunteers to help keep the club running each month, and to cover for holidays/illness.

Auriel commented "Ideally we need someone to help develop our educative and fun yearly programme and to present some of the sessions, also a person to register the children as they arrive with their families".  So If you have a background in, or an understanding of, nature and wildlife and would enjoy working with children helping them to learn, enjoy and care for nature, Auriel would love to hear from you!

The Club covers different topics each month e.g. pond dipping, shelter building, fungi foray and decorations for Christmas. They meet on the first Sunday of each month at the Information Centre in Wimbledon Common, 10am - 12 noon. Children 6 - 14 years.
