Wimbledon and Putney Commons are 1,140 acres of countryside amidst the urban surroundings of Wimbledon, Putney and Kingston-upon-Thames. Run by a charity, the commons are a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Area of Conservation. The Commons provide an important home for wildlife and a place for visitors to relax.

Bird nesting season runs from 1 March to 31 August and to help us protect our wildfowl and nesting birds, all visitors with dogs are asked to keep their charges under control and to note that:
PONDS - Please keep dogs on a lead around all of our ponds to protect our wildfowl
THE PLAIN - Please keep dogs on lead, and keep to the mown paths and out of the long grass
