150th Anniversary Picture Competition


As part of our 150th Anniversary celebrations, the Conservators are delighted to launch a competition for the best pictures of the Commons.

Your picture can be of any medium - photography, sketch, painting or any other form you wish - and can be of anything at all - flowers or insects, wide sweeping vistas down the golf fairways, the iconic Windmill or visitors enjoying the Commons for one of our core reasons for being - exercise and recreation.

To qualify, your entry must be a picture/image of either Wimbledon Common, Putney Heath or Putney Lower Common and should be taken in the current month of the competition Our aim is to capture the essence of the Commons over the course of the year and we hope many will feature in a celebration book to be published later in 2022.   

Why not join in and be in with the chance of winning some amazing prizes!

You can enter up to three images each month, and there will be monthly prizes for the best picture submitted as judged by the Wimbledon and Putney Commons Conservators, with an overall winner chosen at the end of the twelve months.  To choose the overall winner we will open the vote up to the public to choose their favourite - either by visiting our Information Centre where the pictures will be on display, or via our social media platforms.

All pictures entered will be included in a gallery here on our website.


Final round closing date extended to midnight on Saturday 16 August 2022

Terms & Conditions

The competition organiser is Wimbledon and Putney Commons Conservators whose registered address is the Ranger’s Office, Windmill Road, Wimbledon Common, London SW19 5NR

The competition is open to residents of the United Kingdom.  Trustees and staff of Wimbledon and Putney Commons and their close relatives and anyone otherwise connected with the judging of the competition may submit photographs but they will not be eligible for a prize.

There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this competition.

Entries should be submitted to the Ranger’s Office in electronic form via e-mail.  The e-mail address is rangersoffice@wpcc.org.uk

No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason.

Any pictures not fitting the entry requirements will not be included in the competition.

No more than three pictures per person may be entered each month.

The picture must have been created by you or submitted by you on behalf of the photographer/artist in which case you must provide their name.

The image must be created in the current month 

The prize is as stated and no cash or other alternatives will be offered. The prizes are not transferable. Prizes are subject to availability and we reserve the right to substitute any prize with another of equivalent value without giving notice.

Monthly winners will be chosen from all entries received and verified by the Wimbledon and Putney Commons Conservators

The Overall Winner will be chosen as a result of a popular vote conducted via social media sites as measured and recorded and verified by the Wimbledon and Putney Commons Conservators.

The winner will be notified by email within 7 days of the monthly closing date.

Wimbledon and Putney Commons Conservators’ decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating his/her agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.

The winner agrees to the use of his/her name and picture for use in relation to the competition, including publication on the Wimbledon and Putney Commons website and all social media platforms.  Any personal data relating to the winner or any other entrants will be used solely in accordance with current [UK] data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant’s prior consent.

The winners’ name will be available 28 days after closing date by emailing the following address: rangersoffice@wpcc.org.uk

Entry into the competition will be deemed as acceptance of these terms and conditions.
