BioBlitz - Weekend of Nature!

Our annual BioBlitz - Weekend of Nature will take place over the weekend of Friday 22nd June to Sunday 24th June.

Join our local volunteer experts and our staff for some fascinating walks to learn about the flora and fauna of our very special Commons!

Friday 22nd June

5.45pm - Small Mammal Trapping (booking preferred - see form below)

Saturday 23rd June

6.00am - Small Mammal Trapping (booking preferred - see form below)

2.00pm - Butterfly and Dragonfly Walk (booking preferred - see form below)

21.00pm - Bat Walk and Moth Evening (booking preferred - see form below)


Sunday 24th June 

8.00am - Bird Walk (booking preferred - see form below)

9.30am - Opening the Moth Trap

10.30am - General Nature Walk 

1.30pm - Lunchtime Talk - we are delighted that Reptile Events, a local charity that specialises in rescuing reptiles, are coming along to our BioBlitz weekend to give the Lunchtime Talk.  Hugely popular at our Annual Open Day, the talk will focus on their work and about reptiles in general. 

Information Centre - Quekett Microscopical Club will be set up in the Information Centre with their microscopes, giving us a very different view of nature.

Children's Area - The Wimbledon Common Nature Club for children will be on hand providing activities for children.

Refreshment area - we will be providing teas and coffees at the Ranger's Office.

Event Details 

Location: Ranger's Office, Wimbledon Common

Time: Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning

Cost: This event is free of charge but donations gratefully accepted

Refreshments: Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available all day for a small charge

Booking:  Booking is preferred for some of the guided walks, but not essential if you wish to turn up on the day.
