Sports on Wimbledon Common

The Richardson Evans Memorial Playing Fields is a spacious grassed sports facility with a large pavilion and extensive parking.

Owned and managed by the Wimbledon and Putney Commons Conservators since 1925, we’re excited to be expanding the range of sports facilities we can offer during the summer and autumn months.

The Pavilion houses ten fully-fitted changing rooms and has a member of staff, fully trained in First Aid, on duty throughout the day.

Football

Our ten full-size football pitches are available for clubs playing in Saturday and Sunday leagues and are also enjoyed by a number of local schools during the week.

Rugby

The REMPF boasts outstanding rugby facilities and London Cornish are proud to call it their home ground.

Local school teams from Thomas's Clapham, Rokeby and Hall School also compete on the pitches and for four days every March, the REMPF sees over 1200 games of rugby take place as part of the popular Rosslyn Park Rugby Sevens Tournament.

Australian Rules Football

The Putney Magpies Australian Rules Football team have been using the REMPF as their home ground from May to September for the last few years. The Commons ground staff worked with the team to set up the special pitches and make sure that the sport is at home here as it is down under.

Ultimate Frisbee

2007 saw the REMPF hosting the UK Ultimate Frisbee Championships and, in 2008, we hosted the European Ultimate Frisbee Championship. Since then we’ve welcomed lots of local teams who have caught the ultimate frisbee bug and use our playing fields for their team training.
