Wimbledon and Putney Commons Conservators - Pensions
The charity is a member of the London Borough of Merton Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS). The latest triennial actuarial valuation (TAV) of the LGPS was published in March 2020 and sets out the actuarial position of the LGPS as at 31 March 2019 and the contributions required for the three years ending 31 March 2023.
In support of WPCC’s objective of providing greater transparency and furthering an understanding of WPCC’s governance and operations, WPCC aims to proactively publish information that is of interest and relevance to levy-payers and the wider community whenever possible. This objective has been recognised and supported by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) in its recent Decision Notice of 12 May 2020.
WPCC has not previously published detailed information concerning the TAV. However, given the
interest of levy-payers in the matter, as demonstrated at WPCC's recent open meetings, and in support of the above objective, WPCC is publishing the following documents:
Merton Pension Fund Summary
The table in the first link below sets out WPCC's pension scheme position from the perspective of (a) the triennial actuarial valuation, which is used for determining the contributions payable by WPCC to the Merton Pension Fund and (b) the valuation of the same pension scheme for accounting purposes, which is prepared for the purposes of comparability between different pension funds, in accordance with the applicable UK accounting standards. Because of the different methodology required for each valuation, the actuarial valuation results in a surplus while the accounting valuation results in a deficit.
