Visitor Update - COVID 19 - March 2021

COVID Update

With the Government’s roadmap to come out of lockdown still on track, the next stage will come into effect on Monday 29 March.

Changes to operations on the Commons will be as follows:

Windmill Car Parks – open between 7am and 7.30pm

From Sunday 28 March, our Keepering team will be back up to full strength and the car park closing times will be 7.30pm for the coming week.  Please keep an eye on the signs at the entrance gate which will advise of the changing closing times as we move through summer and into autumn.

Golf – play returning from Monday 29 March – 7.30am to sunset

The golfers will be back out on the golf course from 7.30am on Monday morning so do please take care if you are walking on the Commons around the golf course.  They will be playing in fours but are still working to a booking system and play will be by members only.  The Clubs are still not open to Green Fee players.

Horse-riding

All restrictions on group sizes for horse-riding will be lifted from Monday 29 March and Wimbledon Village Stables will be back to operating as normal so you can expect to see groups of horses out on the horserides.  As always, please be careful around the horserides, particularly if you have children or dogs with you.  If you are not sure how your dogs will behave around horses, do please put them on a lead until the group has passed.

Dog-Walking

Although nothing has changed in respect of dog-walking, there are a lot of new dog-owners out on the Commons and we would like to take the opportunity to remind you to keep your charges under control at all times.  We strongly recommend that all dogs are kept either on lead or very close control when walking in busy areas and at busy times of the day.

Cyclists/runners

Please ensure you maintain a safe speed and distance from other visitors and always give way to others

With the likely increase in visitors over the next few weeks as more people can get out and meet up, and with the Easter school holidays, the Commons are likely to be busy so please be kind to each other and remember we’ve all had a tough year.
