Blue Green Algae in Ponds

BLUE GREEN ALGAE - IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING PONDS ON THE COMMONS

Following an inspection by our staff, we believe that Blue Green Algae is present in Kingsmere, Scio and Hookhamslade Ponds.

Despite being a natural part of the freshwater eco-system, certain types of algae can be potentially harmful to humans and animals. To avoid contact with the algae please keep out of the water and don't allow dogs to drink or swim in the ponds.

Although there is no visible evidence in other ponds, it is possible that it is present so we advise caution.
