Oliver Bennett MBE re-appointed

The Conservators are delighted to announce that Oliver Bennett MBE, the DEFRA appointed Conservator since 2021, has been re-appointed for a second term as from 3 February 2024.

In making the re-appointment, the Minister for Environmental Quality and Resilience, Rebecca Pow MP, commented that “Mr Bennett’s expertise and strategic planning had played a pivotal role in advancing WPCC’s mission to preserve the natural beauty of the Commons. From shaping the Land Management Plan to actively promoting broader conservation efforts, his contributions are helping to ensure the Commons remain open and safe for everyone to enjoy”.

On his re-appointment, Mr Bennett said “I am proud to have been reappointed for a further 3-year term.  It is a huge privilege to be able to help protect and enhance nature, and people's enjoyment of it, at such an important urban green space”.

In addition to his role as Defra Appointed Conservator, Oliver actively participates in volunteer work on several of the conservation projects taking place on the Commons, and has edited the two most recent environmental monitoring reports.
